The De Arbol is thin fleshed, with a tannic flavor and searing heat. This chile has a heat range of 7.5 on the heat scale of 1-10. De Arbol Chiles are comparable to a Cayenne Pepper.
De Arbol is a hot chile and a staple in Southwest kitchens. Add some heat to your next salsa or Mexican dish. Be adventurous and add them to your next stew or chili along with the other spices!
Reconstituting Dried Chile Peppers
Fill a small 1-2 quart saucepan with water and bring to a boil over high heat. Use a larger saucepan if you are reconstituting more than 6-8 peppers. Remove the pan from the heat. Add the peppers to the hot water and allow them to soften/reconstitute for about 20-30 minutes. Drain and use as directed.
Note: Always discard the bitter soaking water.
Storage for dried chili peppers
Store in cool dry space.
